Water holds form, yet it is simultaneously loose and ungraspable. It’s vast, precious and we are connected to it intimately. Through the many ways we might understand water, its natural poeticism can be intuitively understood. Waters contain metaphors and duality: beauty and crudeness, fluidity and force. 

Water Shapes aims to provide a variety of ways in which water connects and forms in a literal sense. The exhibition also maintains the possibility of water to be political and poetic. The pieces in this exhibit demonstrate and reflect upon what it means for water to be global and local. Water Shapes investigates how contemporary artists comment and respond to issues surrounding water.
